Jeremiah 7:32

So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when this place will no longer be called Topheth and the Valley of Ben-hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter. For they will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.

Study note

Setting — Jeremiah pronounces this oracle to the people of Judah in Jerusalem, immediately after condemning their construction of high places at Topheth for child sacrifice.

The words — The phrase יָמִים בָּאִים (yāmîm bā’îm) renders as "days are coming," establishing the announcement as a fixed, future divine utterance (נְאֻם יְהוָה).

The thread — The renaming of the valley recurs in Jeremiah 19:6, while Jeremiah 19:11 extends the judgment by describing the shattering of the city and the burial of corpses in Topheth.

Why it lands — The text states that a known geographical location will be renamed Valley of Slaughter and filled with unburied corpses, requiring the reader to acknowledge the physical reality of the stated consequence.
