Psalms
- Who
- Many hands. Seventy-three psalms carry David's name in their titles; others name Asaph, the sons of Korah, Solomon and Moses, and many name nobody.
- When
- Composed across centuries and collected into five books, the last of them after the exile.
- What it is
- The prayer book inside the Bible — praise, complaint, confession, thanks — and the only book that is mostly words spoken to God rather than from Him.
- What to watch for
- More of them are complaints than people expect. The book does not tidy them up.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.Psalms 1:1
