Hebrews 3:6

But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are His house, if we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.

Study note

Setting — The author writes to Jewish Christians at risk of drifting from their faith, contrasting Christ's sonship over God's house with Moses' servanthood in it (Hebrews 3:5).

The words — οἶκος (oikos), "house," is the hinge of the verse: Christ is Son over it, and believers constitute it.

The thread — Paul applies the same "house" language to the community in 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 6:16; the "confidence" here echoes Hebrews 10:35.

Why it lands — The standing is conditional: "if we hold firmly." It demands sustained trust, not a one-time decision.
