Study note

Setting — The LORD speaks through Jeremiah to Judah and Israel, declaring the outcome of the righteous Davidic king announced in the preceding verse. This is the oracle's climax: the king's name and the people's resulting state.

The words — לָ/בֶ֑טַח (la./Ve.tach), "for security," is a noun (H983) denoting a settled state of safety, not a transient adverb; it names what Israel will be, not merely how it will dwell.

The thread — Jeremiah 33:16 repeats the formula almost verbatim, substituting Jerusalem for Israel. The title "The LORD Our Righteousness" is picked up in 1 Corinthians 1:30 and Philippians 3:9, where Christ is the source of the believer's righteousness.

Why it lands — The verse binds salvation, security, and identity to one person; the reader is asked to see that the promise is a name given to a king, not a principle to be pursued.
